Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Ji Memorial 51st U.P. State Cross Country Championship 2017 at Sanskriti University

The 51st U.P State Cross Country Championship was hosted in the city of Mathura at Sanskriti University on 21st September, 2017. Aimed at supporting youth sports in our society this event was held with participants running for a cause and fun. As recommended it brings great pleasure while doing something for oneself, to nurture healthy mankind and optimistic thoughts. A habit of running whether for fun or fitness, fosters long-term benefits. Endless motivated energy coupled with a natural sporting spirit translates to a positive approach. This event laid an important message encouraging the idea that racing isn't just about winning - but about enjoying with peers and opening a platform to develop confidence.

The run began at 7.00 A.M. after the inauguration by Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Keshu Prasad Mauriya in the University campus. Many eminent officials from U.P State Government also graced the occasion.

It was a great day with approximately 250-300 pupils participating in each race from various districts of U.P. All participants had registered for the race during 12- 18th September, 2017 and were to check-in 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of the event. Upon checking-in, students were allotted respective chest number. The idea behind the race was to provide an enjoyable, well planned and better race experience for the participants.

All school/ college athletes aged 13 and above, of all abilities, were encouraged to compete. There were no qualifying standards and everyone was welcome. All the runners ran consistently well in both the boys and the girls races covering a distance of 8 and 6 kilometers respectively for below 20 years and 10 km for students aged 20 years and above.

It was very clear to see that hard work pays off giving strong performances in every race. The efforts of all the participants were thoroughly appreciated and acknowledged. Championship medallions of Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the first three individual place-getters.

The event came to an end by felicitating the awardees by the dignitaries followed by refreshment.
