Sanskriti University Students Visited Regional Forensic Science Laboratory Bharatpur

Mathura. The Students of BSc (Forensic Science) from Sanskriti University visited Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Bharatpur on 13th November 2018 for enhancing their experiential learning in the domain of forensic science.

The laboratory has four division of forensic science viz. Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Biology, Forensic Serology and Forensic Physics.

These students were demonstrated various activities of the lab mentioned above and the various operations being carried in them. The main activity of the laboratories is the proper documentation of the specimen received from the investigating officer and to check the status of chain of custody. Students were demonstrated how to check all these particulars about chain of custody. The students learn to check whether the viscera package received has been properly preserved or not. The process of extraction and identification of various poisons were explained to the students. Various microscopic methods used in biological and serological testing of samples were demonstrated.

The students interacted with various scientists of the lab in very informal environment and they were served with heavy refreshment at the lunch time.

They B Sc. (Forensic Science) students were accompanied by their teacher Prof O P Jasuja who facilitated the entire Academic Trip. The visit was aimed at imparting the real life perspective and experiential learning in the presence of the experienced practitioners.

Chancellor Sachin Gupta expressed his pleasure on the serious efforts of the faculty members and desired that all schools of the University should ensure that the students of respective programmes should be provided with real world exposure to make them industry ready when they pass out from the university.

Pro Chancellor Rajesh Gupta emphasized the importance of visits to various industrial laboratories to help the students in connecting the theoretical concepts to the practical applications which will help them in integrating the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired by the students during their tenure at the university.

OSD Meenakshi Sharma shared her views and said that education can have an everlasting impact on the minds of the students by the consistent efforts of the faculty members by integrating the concepts imparted in the class room and their practical applications at the professional workplace.

Executive Director P C Chabra said that the students should be mentored in advance to focus on the various key areas during the visit and all the students should be requested to take important notes during the visit and should be required to submit the detailed report after attending the visits to achieve the envisioned goals and objectives of outcome based education.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Rana Singh congratulated Dr. O.P. Jasuja, Professor of Forensic Science and Dean of Students Welfare for his sincere efforts to impart world class education in the domain of forensic science to the students and also for his sincere efforts and initiatives in providing professional exposure to the students of Forensic Science.

Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Abhay Kumar said that the students passing out from the BSc in Forensic Science will be able to get job opportunities in India and abroad after getting an optimum blend of knowledge, skills and competencies under the able leadership of Dr. Jasuja and his team of dynamic faculty members committed to provide theoretical concepts optimally complimented and supplemented by exposure by professionals in the real life settings.
