B.Sc. Fisheries is an undergraduate course Fisheries science is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, which draws on the disciplines of aquaculture including breeding, genetics, biotechnology, nutrition, farming, medical treatment of aquatic plants, fish processing includes curing, canning, freezing, value addition, bye-product and waste utilization, population dynamics, fisheries environment, fisheries economics and management and fisheries extension etc. The duration of the course is four years and after passing it successfully students have many career opportunities in various fields.
Career Scope :
Number of job opportunities are available for B.F.Sc. Graduates in the Government as well as Private sector. In Government sector, the prime recruiters are-Fisheries Development Boards (State wise), Food Department (State wise) and Banks etc. The Private sector offers much more job opportunities. B.F.Sc. Graduates usually get hired by Food Processing and Technology sector, Fish Breeding farms large and medium in size, Aquariums etc
