Bachelor of Fisheries is an undergraduate programme. Fisheries science is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, which draws on the disciplines of aquaculture including breeding, genetics, biotechnology, nutrition, farming, medical treatment of aquatic plants, fish processing includes curing, canning, freezing, value addition, bi-products and waste utilization, population dynamics, fisheries environment, fisheries economics and management and fisheries extension etc.

Numerous job opportunities are available for B.F.Sc. Graduates in the government as well as the private sector. In the government sector, the primary recruiters are- Fisheries Development Boards (state level), Food Departments (state level) and Banks etc. The Private sector offers much more job opportunities. B.F.Sc. Graduates usually get hired by Food Processing and Technology sector, Fish Breeding farms of large and medium size, Aquariums etc.
