Research findings should be documented in lucid language understandable by common man: Dr. Rana Singh

Mathura. Any kind of research cannot be completed in few days. Research is an ongoing process. The aim of conducting research should be social and societal development and not just getting a degree. People who contribute new dimensions to research are the people who are remembered in the annals of history.

Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee, Dean of Lewis College of Business, Marshall University, USA, said “Nowadays, quality research papers can play an important role in shaping the development of the society” while addressing the audience during the special address on “Publishing Strategies, Research Quality and Impact: Insights from a Journal Editor”.

On this occasion the Keynote Speaker Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee mentioned that the relevance and quality of research is very important in the real life. The Universities have four major goals to accomplish. Creation of knowledge, transmission of knowledge, construction of prosperous society, and conservation of knowledge. Dr. Mukherjee shared his views and said that research cannot be compartmentalized into two segments of theoretical and practical applications. A researcher must have knowledge about the theoretical as well as the practical dimensions of research. He emphasized the importance of language and grammar in the process of publishing high quality research papers and said that knowledge is the best companion in the process of human development and evolution. The well-organized structure of knowledge must get reflected in the high quality research papers of modern times.

Dr. Mukherjee said that the relentless journey of the human civilization has been witness to the fact that scientific research has determined the present scenario and future of our life. The diverse areas of science and technology have played an important role in facilitating our lives to make it simple. The maximum advantage of research in the area of science and technology can be leveraged by making the research output available in Hindi and other regional languages. The advantages of research can percolate to the common man if and only if the research facts, findings and information are available in a language understandable by the common masses.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rana Singh said that research papers are being published in the domain of science and technology and the research papers lack focus on the qualitative dimensions. The research papers being published in most of the journals sparingly reflect high quality of scholarly research. Over a period of time, documentation of fundamental research in the domain of science and technology has been minimal and the domain lacks required number of reference books as well. A lot has been written about science and technology but lucid and easily understandable research content is available in minimum quantity for the common masses in commonly understandable language. Most of the researchers lack interest in the domain of writing and publishing in Hindi and other regional languages. Some of the major reasons for not authoring and publishing in Hindi and other regional languages is the lack of opportunities to present the research papersas well as difficulties in the process of publication of research papers.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Rana Singh said that howsoever rich may be the vocabulary of any language but the relevance and meaningful research can be produced by focusing on meaningful usage of the language for paraphrasing the research outcomes. It is important to create and nurture platforms for sharing the research findings in the domain of science and technologyin Hindi and other regional languages which is equivalent to the opportunities available in English. In modern times, there is scarcity of national platforms which can organize seminars, conferences, workshops etc. to collate various poster presentations of research findings in Hindi and other regional languages. It is important to understand and explain the finer intricacies of science and technology in simple language. The role of science and technology is not just to give information but also to create a scientific bent of mind among the youth. In the era of globalization, we can play the role of being the harbingers of social change by conducting high quality research and ensuring their publication in language understandable by one and all.
