Agricultural Farm Inauguration at Sanskriti University

The students and farmers of Mathura and other nearby districts have been empowered to find better solutions for facing the growing agricultural challenges with the knowledge of advanced agricultural techniques through the efforts taken by the Agricultural Department of Sanskriti University. An Agricultural farm was inaugurated by Mr. Sachin Gupta, Chancellor, Sanskriti University on 21st September, 2017. Dr. Devendra Pathak( Vice chancellor), Prof. Arvind Rajpurohit (Dean- Agricultural Department) and Mrs Meenakshi Sharma (OSD to Chancellor) were also present at the event.

On this occasion, Mr. Sachin Gupta, Chancellor addressed the students of the agricultural department by explaining the future problems in agriculture associated with the changing climatic behavior and the importance for change in crop rotation. He also stated that the rapidly growing population is exerting more pressure on farming and farmers are facing the challenge of obtaining self sustained production.

The Government of India aims to drastically improve the agricultural sector by 2022 to meet the agricultural objectives which can only be attained through advanced agricultural education and research. As a result, Sanskriti university has taken efforts to improve and attain the objectives of agriculture by not only providing knowledge to the students but also to the farmers of the nearing districts.

Dr. Devendra Pathak recommended the need for a change in the curriculum of agricultural graduate from a simple practical oriented learning to commercial and job oriented learning. He said the new course most comprise of traditional farming practices with technical, talent and business orientated practices. He emphasized on learning with doing or experimentation. Dr. Pathak wishes to see the change among common farmers from the use of traditional methods to highly advanced techniques that can be practically experimented to widely increase the level of agricultural production.

Prof. Arvind Rajpurohit, Dean Agriculture says that Sanskriti University has recently introduced three important programmes in agriculture, namely, B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering and M.Sc. Agriculture.

The basic objective behind starting this agricultural farm is to equip the students with the various techniques and their practical application. Prof. Purohit stated that it is the feeling behind any job that makes it important quoting the efforts of Dr. Manibhai Desai in establishing the BAIF Development Research Foundation. With this idea of agricultural development for acquiring sustained growth, the agricultural department of Sanskriti University began with the agricultural farm.

To sum up the event, the students and faculty members were thanked and appreciated for their efforts.
