Guest Lecture On “Panel Designing & Introduction To Variable Frequency Drives” Organized At Sanskriti University

Organizing guest lectures, seminars and conferences is a routine task at Sanskriti University for each academic session. The University believes in providing exposure to its students and organizing such lectures is considered as a part of co-curricular activities that complements the academic rigors as per university syllabi.

On 31st March, 2017, a guest lecture on “Panel Designing & Introduction to Variable Frequency Drives” was organized in the University campus. The chief speakers were Mr. Deepak Sharma and Mr. Anil Raj Rana, Manager, Prolific Systems.

Students and faculty members of Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering (both diploma and degree level) attended the lecture.

The speakers enlightened on Electrical Control Panel Designing, which is the brain center for all industrial automation projects and represent a vital element in the proper working and performance of these systems.

Mr. Sharma explained the students that a variable-frequency drive (VFD is a type of adjustable-speed drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and voltage. Over the last four decades, power electronics technology has reduced VFD cost and size and has improved performance through advances in semiconductor switching devices, drive topologies, simulation and control techniques, and control hardware and software.

Mr. Rana stated that control panels are most often equipped with push buttons, analog instruments, monitoring devices controllers and other accessories to control and monitor field devices. While a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. Other names for a VFD are variable speed drive, adjustable speed drive, adjustable frequency drive, AC drive, microdrive, and inverter.

At the end of the session, Dr. Amit Jain, Principal (Polytechnic) presented a memento to Mr. Sharma and Mr. Rana as a token of remembrance.
