Specialization is much sought after in recent times as high-tech. application requires extensive research and for manning any high-tech. organization, highly qualified engineers like integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech. degree holders are required.
Specialization can be achieved only if the persons have thorough knowledge in specific areas of technology and integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech. provides the requisite skills and knowledge to make the students ‘specialists’ in specific areas of technology.
B.Tech or Bachelor of Technology is an undergraduate 4 years / 8 semesters program offered in disciplines such as Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Software, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Civil etc.
M.Tech is a more research oriented course requiring the students to study subjects covered in B.Tech programme in more details thereby improving their knowledge and skills in various technical aspects.
M.Tech can be pursued only for a particular discipline which is same or related to the discipline in which the candidates have obtained B.Tech. degree.
The syllabus of integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech. course covers important subjects (of respective branches) designed for B.Tech. as well as M.Tech. programmes. Basically, it is a sandwich course with focus on fundamentals (in B.Tech.) and specializations (in M.Tech.). The idea is to groom the students possessing integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech. degree as ‘specialists’ with fundamentally sound background who are the masters of their own trade.
